Why a washing machine does not get water

In everyday life, a situation often happens when a washing machine does not take water. The program turned on, but nothing happens, and the machine may produce an error on the display, or even shut down.

No washing machine can be insured against failures, be it Bosch, Indesit or LG. The reason may be failures in the electronic control system, mechanical damage, failure of different units of the unit. So, what factors can cause the car not to draw water:

  • water supply difficulties;
  • error in the control module;
  • the water supply valve is out of order;
  • malfunction of the pressure switch;
  • defective lock lock hatch.

Water supply difficulties

If you notice that the washing machine does not flood the water, even while it is buzzing, it is recommended to check the availability water line. It may be absent, or the pressure in the system may be too small. If everything is normal with pressure and water is flowing from the tap, check to see if it is closed. tap in front of the inlet hosegoing to the unit. When it is closed, the machine will buzz, but water will not flow into the washing machine.

If all of the above reasons are not confirmed, the next place to pay attention will be intake filter hose. It protects your washing machine from getting into different debris from the highway. If it becomes clogged, water does not flow, or it will accumulate slowly.

For filter cleaning It is necessary to disconnect the hose from the machine, and check for contamination. If they are, clean the filter by rinsing with a strong stream of water. Then in the same way you should rinse the hose from dirt itself. Fluid must flow through the filter element without the slightest delay.

Error in the control module

Control module - This is the electronic “brain” of the machine. The more in the electronics unit, the more often the MCA fails. Often the washing machine does not take water because of a malfunction in the electronics. On the inlet valve (good), just not served signal at the opening, and the water in the washing machine is not dialed.

If the control module fails, it is not recommended to start repairing it yourself. Without the skills and knowledge to repair these nodes, you can exacerbate the situation, and then you need a more serious repair of electronics.

Water supply valve out of order

Inlet solenoid valve in the initial state (disabled) must be closed. When voltage is applied to the coil of an electric coil, the resulting magnetic field begins to act on the rod, which is drawn into the coil. After that, a membrane is opened that allows water to pass through the nozzle at the outlet of the magnetic valve. Then the water passes through the dispenser for detergents, and enters the tank with a drum. When the water has reached the tank to the desired level, the supply of current to the coil is turned off, the membrane, returning to the place, closes the flow of water.

 Inlet valve

Inlet solenoid valve

When the washing machine draws water in the off state, we can say with great confidence that the inlet solenoid valve is not working.

To produce diagnostics valve serviceability, it is better to remove the part from the unit.Then it needs to be connected to the inlet hose, and apply a voltage of 220 V to each of the coils in turn. If the valve is in good condition, it will open, letting water flow into the substituted tank. With the power off, it should close tightly without flowing a liquid. If the valve is faulty, a check is required.

  1. Look around mesh valve, and if necessary, clean it from contamination. If it is clogged, water is drawn slowly or not poured at all.
  2. When burned coils, the valve will not open. It is checked by measuring the resistance, the indicators on the device should be in the range of 2-4 kΩ.
  3. If the inlet valve does open, and after the power is turned off, it closes, but the fluid leaks out, then the reason is weakening stem springs, or in the loss of membrane elasticity. Such a valve is required to be replaced.

Pressure switch malfunction

If the washing machine is constantly drawing water, this malfunction could be provoked by a faulty pressostatwater level sensor. It is he who controls the volume of incoming fluid in the tank unit.

 Pressostat

The location of the pressostat in the washing machine

Other symptoms of failure in the process of AGR work can also indicate breakage of the pressure switch:

  • the machine started washing, but there is no water in the tank (as a result, the heating element may burn out, since the module supplied power to it and the water did not enter the tank);
  • washing machine takes in a little water;
  • the CMA tank overflows with water;
  • after washing fluid remains in the tank;
  • rinse mode does not start;
  • you smell the smell of burning near the typewriter.

If you are on these grounds suspected sensor in the breakdown, do not rush and change it to a new one. First you need to check the sensor for malfunction. To do this, remove it from the housing. It is located under the top cover of the unit, at the top, on the side.

Remove the screws holding the pressure switch, disconnect the contacts and the hose from it. Check the hose for clogging and flush if necessary. If the contacts are dirty, you need to clean them.

The next step is pressure switch check.

  1. Take a hose that is not very long, about 10 cm in size, and of such diameter as the disconnected tube.
  2. The tube should be worn at the sensor inlet fitting, and then begin to blow into it.
  3. When you press the blower, you need to put the pressure switch on your ear: when the sensor is working, you should hear clicks. There may be several clicks, and their number depends on the force with which you are blowing into the hose.

If when checking the liquid level sensor the malfunction was confirmed, it is better to replace the pressure switch with a new one, especially since it is not expensive. This way you will get rid of frequent troubles, when the washing machine is constantly picking up water.

Faulty sunroof lock

All modern CMA are equipped with a device to lock the hatch (UBL). If this sensor fails, you can answer the question why the washing machine does not draw water.

 Manhole lock

Manhole locking device (UBL)

For accurate diagnosis of UBL, a special device is used - tester. But not every home has it, and not everyone knows how to use it. With some degree of error, this sensor can be checked by other (external) features:

  • unlocking the hatch of the washing machine does not occur for a long time;
  • when the washing program starts, the display is displayed mistake in the form of a code that corresponds to the failure of the UBL;
  • when you start washing UBL does not start to lock the door (in this case, the lock may be faulty, or the control module that does not give a signal to close the lock).

For an accurate installation of the reason why the washing machine does not take water, you will need the help of a specialist and a device check.

In the case when you diagnose the washer, using the tips described above and did not find the cause of the malfunction, this means that the breakdown may be more serious and you cannot do without a call from a qualified master.
