However, even this type of repair can be performed independently. The main thing to remember is that each bearing has its own size, which must be strictly observed when searching for new parts. We will tell you how to change the bearing in the washing machine with your own hands, in order to prolong the service life of your home appliances at no extra cost.

 Bearing replacement

Working process

To replace the bearing, you will have to completely remove the tank, disassemble it and get to the drum itself: the bearings are installed on it.

If you are not confident in your abilities, specify how much it costs to replace the bearing for your washing machine at a service center: perhaps the cost of repairs will be acceptable.

To access the drum, you will have to disassemble almost the entire washing machine. This should be done in the following order:

  1. Remove the top cover from the washing machine.
  2. Pull out the powder container.
  3. Unscrew and detach the front panel with the control unit.
  4. Remove weights from tank.
  5. Remove the cuff from the hatch.
  6. In some cars it is necessary to remove the electric motor, in others the tank is pulled out together with the motor.
  7. Disconnect all wires and hoses leading to the tank.
  8. Unscrew the shock absorbers
  9. Pull out and disassemble the drum
  10. Replace the bearings in the drum

It should be noted that the process of replacing bearings at different brands of washing machines differs only dismantling method washing machine tank. In many units, it is removed through the top cover: for example, the replacement of the bearing in the washing machine Atlas is exactly this way.

Preparation for repair

Before you begin to disassemble the machine, it is worth preparing. First you need to buy all the necessary spare parts. Bearings for washing machines do not differ from those installed in other household appliances, it is only important to know the parameters in order to choose the right part.In addition to the bearing itself, you will need rubber seals, grease, waterproof sealant, as well as a set of tools:

  • hammer;
  • set of wrenches;
  • metal rod;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • pliers;
  • flat and Phillips screwdriver.

 Instruments

Now proceed to site preparation. Be sure to disconnect from the network of household appliances. Before changing the bearing in the washing machine, drain all the water:

  • it is necessary to take a basin or another large container, and lay a rag or film on the floor so as not to flood the neighbors from below;
  • shut off the water supply to the machine;
  • unscrew the inlet and place it in the basin so that all the water flows out of the hose.

Once you have freed the car, move it to the middle of the room so that you have free access from all sides: if you leave it standing at the wall, then it will be much more difficult to repair. Wipe out leaked water and proceed to repair.

Disassembly Step-by-Step Guide

Let's take a closer look at each step in order to know how to properly replace the bearing on a washing machine.

  1. Top cover - in almost all washing machines, it is attached with latches and screws, which are screwed in the back.After unscrewing them, we attach a panel with a flat screwdriver around the perimeter and remove the cover.
     Unscrewing the top cover

  2. It is sufficient to simply push the container for the powder, then remove the clamp and pull out the container completely. Under it are a few screws that fasten front panel. In addition, the panel is mounted in the opposite side at the top.
  3. If the tank is covered top panel, it is necessary to unscrew it. The panel is fixed, as a rule, with self-tapping screws, which are well accessible from above.
  4. Cargo bolted to the tank, as a rule there are only 2 or 3. Be sure to remove the weights before unscrewing the shock absorbers, otherwise the tank may shift and it will not be so easy to work.
  5. Cuff fixed with a long metal bracket, which is fixed by a rigid spring. After removing the spring clamp, you can easily pull out and remove the cuff from the front wall. Next, be sure to unscrew door lock.
  6. If you can pull out the tank with the motor, then do so. But before that, unscrew shock absorbers and make sure that no wires or nozzles fit either the tank or the motor. After removing the tank, you can start disassembling it and replacing the nozzles.

Bearing replacement

Remove the drive belt, unscrew the motor and spin the tank. It is bolted around the perimeter. By spinning them you can remove one half of the tank. Next you need to disconnect pulley. In some washing machines, it is bolted with a conventional bolt, in others you will need an asterisk or hex head. If there is no such tool at hand, then take the adjustable wrench, fix the pulley and unscrew the fastening bolt.

As soon as the shaft is available, you can start beating down the old bearings. For convenience, it is better to take metal rod. After removing the bearings, pay attention to the condition of the shaft. If the shaft is in good condition, lubricate it and insert new bearings.

 New bearing

Using a washer, we hammer in a new bearing until it stops

New bearings must be driven all the way in, and then glued with sealant.

Next, collect the washing machine in the reverse order. Well, if before starting work you arm yourself with a camera and take pictures of the whole process, then it will be much easier to assemble everything quickly and correctly. Immediately do not wash, you need to run a trial just with water to wash the drum after the repair. If the test wash is successful, then you can safely use the washing machine.

As mentioned above, the process of replacing bearings for machines of different manufacturers is slightly different. For your convenience, we present algorithms for the most popular brands: Ariston, Indesit, Samsung and LG.
