How to replace the fuse in the microwave with their own hands

This home appliance is an indispensable assistant in the kitchen: with the help of a microwave, you can very quickly heat food cooked the day before, as well as stew vegetables and meat products, make original hot sandwiches and much more. Like all appliances, the furnace can break, the most frequent malfunction - a fuse blows from a power surge. We will describe in detail what are the fuses in the microwave, as well as the replacement algorithm.

 Fuse

Briefly about the design

These parts protect any electrical circuit, and a high-voltage fuse, for example, for a microwave, performs the same functions for all parts of this complex household appliance. There are many varieties of these small, but very important details that differ in the principle of operation, one of them is fusible link.

The design of the fuse is extremely simple: a metal thread, a glass flask and special caps on the ends, so that it is convenient to install in special connectors. When the amount of current exceeds the allowable, the thread heats up to the melting rating and burns out, breaking the electrical circuit and de-energizing the product.

The glass tube (on high-voltage devices install the ceramic version) serves to protect other parts from hot splashes when the thread burns.

How many of them in the microwave

Microwave protect three fuses.

  1. Network protector. This type of fuse is located at the power input and protects the entire device from possible voltage surges, which are not uncommon in our urban networks. It also protects your home network from a short circuit that may occur inside the oven. As a rule, it has a large potential - up to 12A, and when various faults occur inside the product, the microwave instantly disconnects from the network.
  2. High voltage option serves as an element of protection for the magnetron, protecting the high-voltage transformer from possible overloads. It is located nearby, and the scheme is designed to break the circuit between the input and output of the high-voltage unit. These chains in the equipment constantly impose exceptional safety requirements, therefore all conductors of the high-voltage circuit are double insulated, and the safety element itself is enclosed in a separate housing made of hard plastic, which has different shapes and colors. It consists of two halves, connected by a jumper and latches - they prevent the spontaneous opening of such an original container. To replace the fuse, press the latches, remove the part with the burnt core and insert a new element.

  3. Another fuse of a similar class is installed only on microwave models with electronic control panelwhich is powered from a low power power transformer. It converts the electrical current from the home network into the voltage required to power the electronic circuits. A separate chain protector is at the same time a constructive element of the entire aggregate or, in the language understood by the user,it is located on top of the primary winding and is covered with special insulation, so it is quite difficult to change it. If you have a Samsung oven, then this part is located separately - on the control panel board, which greatly facilitates the work.

What kind of fuses are on your model of the furnace will help to learn the instructions for the technique. In many modern models of microwaves there are no high-voltage fuses - manufacturers simply do not install them at the time of manufacture at the factory, so all their functions are performed by the network protector. But it burns out if there is a fault in the circuit. magnetron only in the case when the transformer will be affected by double load for quite a long time.

Such effects adversely affect the transformer, and very often lead to its premature failure.

Another interesting feature that few users know about: when burned out high-voltage protective element, then all the parts will work except the magnetron: the circle will spin, the product will emit working noise, but it will not heat. If the mains fuse or control panel blows, the microwave does not respond to your actions in any way - all attempts to turn it on are equal to zero (for more details, see the articlewhat to do if the microwave is not turned on).

Replacement Algorithm

On most models of stoves installed Elements 5kv 0.65 + A. If it is blown, then you can change the fuse in the microwave using this technology:

  • unplug the product from the network by removing the plug from the outlet;
  • carefully remove the top cover;
  • open the case of the high-voltage device and check its integrity visually;
  • if the thread is burned, then remove the fuse from the case;
  • we check contacts for burning, we clean them, we insert a new element with identical parameters.

For those users who do not know the device of home appliances, there is a more detailed instruction that will help to cope with the replacement quickly and without problems.

  1. In order to remove the top cover from the device without interference, find all the fastening elements and carefully remove them from the positioning nests.
  2. Visual inspection use a magnifying glass, to accurately determine the presence of a thread or its absence, as well as to consider all the inscriptions on the caps of the product.
  3. A new fuse must be installed with identical parameters, otherwise the thread burns immediately after switching on the product,from the slightest slight difference in current strength or voltage.

Security measures

All models of modern microwave ovens work at internal voltage, which is many times higher than the same nominal home network. For example, the working voltage of the anode of the magnetron reaches 4000 volts, the power is in the range of 500-850 watts. The internal voltage can remain on the oil-filled capacitors for a long time after disconnecting household appliances from the network, which is why there is a possibility of an inexperienced repairman with an electric shock.

Many users ignore the warnings of experts, but if you want to avoid electrical injuries, which can have lethal consequences, then always follow the two basic rules for repairing products with high-voltage elements.

  1. Never touch the inside parts of the product with your hands when working. On the probes of the measuring instrument is required to wear special crocodile clips. Pull out the fuses only with special current-insulated tweezers or with a screwdriver and insulating handle.

  2. If there is a need to work in a high-voltage unit with the equipment turned off, it is necessary to close the leads of the magnetron to the case - in this simple way you can avoid discharging the capacitor through your body. You should not hope for a special resistor that discharges the capacitor when the voltage is turned off - it may be faulty or the manufacturers saved on its installation.

When working on replacing any fuse, try not to touch other parts of the microwave with unprotected hands. In such cases, it is better to overdo it with protection than to get an electric shock of enormous strength.
