Russia plans to use unmanned buses to transport guests of the World Cup in 2018

At the World Cup 2018, which will be held in Russia, it is planned to use unmanned buses. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich at the Science and Technology Forum, which was recently held in Kyoto.

The possibility of using unmanned vehicles at international competitions was mentioned earlier, but confirmation from officials has not yet been received.

 Buses for the World Cup

Most likely, we are talking about the UAV models developed by the KAMAZ concern. These buses will be able to move on the roads with car markings at speeds up to 60 km / h. To ensure the continuous operation of electrical models, it will be necessary to build a network of gas stations. Given the complexity of the road conditions in Russian cities, it is expected that such routes will be carefully thought out, and the roads along which buses are planned to travel without drivers, well renovated and aligned with all necessary standards.

 Unmanned bus

For reference. In addition to KAMAZ, a subsidiary of Volgabus BMG is actively developing, building and testing unmanned vehicles. The concept of transport, called MATRESHKA, could already be seen on the roads of Skolkovo. The developers' plans include the creation of three variants of machines with a modular device - freight, passenger and for special transportations. The use of modules will significantly reduce the time and cost of repairs, as well as quickly change the parameters of the car.

The use of this type of transport as early as next year will require significant investments in infrastructure. It is expected that both the buses and the infrastructure will be successfully used at the end of the championship.
