HONDA introduced a robot that will participate in rescue operations.

At the international conference IROS-2017, Honda introduced the E2-DR robot. He is planned to be involved in rescue operations during and after natural disasters..

Honda specialists started working on the project two years ago. Then they voiced that their robot would have such qualitative characteristics as strength, flexibility and impenetrability. This year, all those present at the conference had the opportunity to evaluate E2-DR in action.

Reference. HONDA is an international corporation founded in 1948. Its creator, Soichiro Honda, never specifically studied mechanics, but was very interested in technology and everything connected with it. Non-standard ways of solving problems and originality of Soichiro thinking allowed him to turn his brainchild into a real monster of the Japanese car industry, which very quickly reached the world level. HONDA cars and motorcycles are still very popular nowadays, because the image,created by the manufacturer, guarantees a high level of quality, functionality and design of each produced instance.

The height of the new "rescuer" is 168 cm, weight - 85 kg. It is powered from a 1000-watt-hour battery, with a charge of 1.5 hours of continuous activity. The temperature range suitable for normal operation of the robot ranges from -10C to + 40C. Built-in cooling system protects the device from overheating. Laser rangefinders, cameras and a projector are located on the head.

The robot is able to deploy the body 180 degrees, use your hands to grab hold of objects, so no problem climbing ladders. He can also, like a man, step over obstacles and walk among the debris. The maximum speed that the E2-DR is able to develop is 2 km / h. In case of precipitation, the mechanism of the device allows the robot to be in the pouring rain for up to 20 minutes.
