Created devices capable of self-destruction

Chinese and American experts have presented devices capable of decomposition under the influence of high levels of humidity. The temperature does not play a special role.

The use of such devices is very extensive. They can be used during environmental monitoring, as well as during medical procedures for transporting drugs to affected organs. Thanks to the resorption function, specialists do not need to remove devices from the systems in which they worked. Their "traceless disappearance" is able to solve many sanitary and environmental problems arising from the use of analogues.

Among the instances that fell under the testing procedure were electric transistors and capacitors. The element affecting the rate of decomposition of devices was polymer film based on polyanhydride and polyethylene glycol diacrylate.When certain moisture levels were reached, the hydrolysis mechanism was triggered, and the film was deformed, and then, under the influence of corrosive processes, the device itself was destroyed.

The authors of the project appreciate the prospects for implementing the invention in real life. In their opinion, they can be universally used in various areas. The degree of resistance to the level of humidity, and hence the "shelf life" of each product can be adjusted by changing the structure of the polymer shell surrounding it. This will allow not to fear that the device will disappear, not having time to perform its function in a particular system. The extent to which their expectations are met depends on the results of further experiments.
