Soon the first convertiplane of domestic production may appear in Russia

Russian Helicopters and SuperOx announced a joint project - creating a convertoplan based on the VRT3 prototype.

For reference. The unmanned 2-tonne tiltrotor VRT3 created by “Rostec” was presented at the MAKS exhibition in July 2017. The vessel allows using it both for cargo delivery (capacity is 4 tons), and for transportation of passengers (up to 26 people). Convertoplane is a cross between an airplane and a helicopter. By analogy with a helicopter, the device is able to land and take off vertically, and the ability to deploy structural elements (engines, propellers, fender) allows it to move in "airplane" mode.

The main advantage of the new convertiplane is its versatility. Thanks to the ability to land and take off in an upright position, the flying device will be able to do without specially designated runways. This will allow to use it in the city, for example, as a taxi.

When creating the device, the specialists intend to use the most advanced technologies, which allow to improve flight performance, as well as reduce weight and reduce the size of the device. The General Director of Russian Helicopters highly appreciated the chances of successful development of the project and its implementation in everyday life.

SuperOx and Russian Helicopters agreed to work together this summer, but they only officially announced their plans now. According to the leaders of both structures, the first working version of the convertoplan can be seen in action in 2019.

Yep For the fifth year, they are already fooling their heads, dragging a wooden blank for exhibitions, which never took off even once! ... Well, let's wait for another two years, maybe they will be born again by flying all the time! ; D; D; D
... although you should not flatter yourself - if the unmanned demonstrator-model did not make a single flight, in its tedious "exhibition life", it is hardly worth the assurances that in two years "this is a miracle" all the way! )))
