Invented "smart tire" that can prevent an accident

At the motor show, held in Frankfurt, was presented "smart tire" that can independently control the degree of wear and adapt to constantly changing road conditions. The author of the development was the famous tire manufacturer Continental.

At the heart of the invention are two technologies. First Contisense It is designed to track the current condition of tires. This happens as follows. Built-in sensors with a certain frequency measure the tread depth and its temperature, and then transmit the received information to the car receiver or directly to the driver’s smartphone. This allows not only “detect” the wheel breakdown in time, but also to determine whether it is time to think about buying a new set of rubber. The creators plan to supplement Contisense with parameters that allow assessing the condition of the road surface (asphalt temperature, presence of precipitation, etc.).

 ContiAdapt

The second technology, called ContiAdapt, is not informational value, as the previous version, but practical. It carries out the process of controlling the characteristics of tires to ensure the most effective contact with the road surface. In this case, both the quality parameters of the road and the effects of the environment (temperature, precipitation, etc.) are taken into account. As a result, at the moment there are 4 options for settings, intended for: wet, slippery, uneven or normal road conditions.

The use of “smart” tires can not only help car owners to monitor the correct operation of the wheels of their vehicle, but also prevent many accidents.

After all, many drivers do not even think about the real condition of tires and decide to replace them only in cases where the previous ones are no longer subject to repair. Smart tires are also able to prompt in time about the breakdown of the wheel, a faster driver response in such cases will avoid the occurrence of accidents.
